NorthQA Christmas Party 2025: A Pause, A Celebration, A Team

December is often a month of reflection, looking back at the challenges we faced, the lessons we learned, and the people who made the journey meaningful. For NorthQA, this year's Christmas party was exactly that: a pause from deadlines, test cases, and bug reports, and a moment to simply be a team.

Last December 20, our small but growing team of eight members gathered at a hut-style venue in Malasag G Resort, Cagayan de Oro City. Surrounded by nature, fresh air, and a peaceful view, it was the right setting to celebrate the year we survived and succeeded together.

A Simple Venue, Meaningful Moments

The venue may have been simple, but the moments we shared were far from ordinary. We swam, shared drinks, and spent hours talking not just about work, but about life, experiences, and everything in between. Conversations flowed easily, laughter came naturally, and time felt slower in the best way possible.

One of the highlights of the day was welcoming our new team member. It didn't feel like an introduction. It felt like inclusion. The Christmas party became a space where everyone felt comfortable, heard, and genuinely part of the NorthQA family. In moments like these, titles fade, roles soften, and what remains is connection.

Laughter That Brought Us Closer

One of the most unforgettable parts of the day was a game we played, simple in idea, chaotic in execution, and unforgettable in memory. The challenge was to guess the title of a song, but instead of singing the lyrics normally, we had to perform them using only a dog's bark or a cat's meow.

What followed was uncontrollable laughter.

When it was time to guess Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me," our brains completely short-circuited. Instead of hearing the lyrics as they were meant to be sung, all we could process was "meow meow meow." One of our coworkers tried to guess while the "singer" dramatically meowed their way through:

"If you could see that I'm the one who understands you

Been here all along, so why can't you see?

Meow meow meow meow."

It made absolutely no sense, and that's what made it perfect. Watching our teammates struggle to translate emotions, melody, and lyrics into nothing but animal sounds was hilarious, genuine, and oddly bonding. For a moment, we weren't testers, analysts, or professionals, we were just people laughing until our sides hurt.

The Unexpected Fun at the Table

As if the games weren't enough, another funny moment happened when we realized we had forgotten a very important thing: a knife.

With a lechon waiting to be served and no knife in sight, we started throwing out the silliest ideas. "Let's just use our hands and rip it apart!" someone shouted. "Or maybe a plate?" another suggested, until we realized we didn't even have a hard plate.

Then the ideas got even wilder. Someone pointed to the ropes we had for the wine boxes and said, "Why not try cutting it with this?" The thought of all of us trying to cut lechon with a rope had everyone laughing so hard.

Finally, we decided someone had to ask for a knife. Of course, we jokingly chose our "sacrifice" team member, who bravely went to borrow one. When they came back with it, it felt like a small victory worth celebrating.

The Journey Was Part of the Fun

Even the drive to the resort became a memory worth keeping. We found ourselves stuck in traffic, but instead of frustration, there was laughter, especially as one of our coworkers effortlessly navigated through the roads, confidently swerving while the rest of us watched in awe and amusement.

It was a small reminder that sometimes, the most memorable moments are found not at the destination, but along the way.

The Late Entrance

Our very own founder was running late. Before this, we had made a playful agreement: anyone arriving late had to dance. So, naturally, we were calling, teasing, and imagining the dance moves he would be doing.

When he finally arrived, he was not empty-handed. He came with a bowl of hot soup, trying to nurse a hangover. We couldn't stop laughing. The scene was too comedy worthy: first, the soup to recover, and then, right after, a plan to drink anyway. Watching him shuffle in, soup in hand, looking both rushed and still hungover, we all just burst into laughter as the conversation and jokes continued. It was a simple moment, but it perfectly captured the fun, lighthearted, and caring spirit of our team.

Light Work Talk, Heavy Reflection

Of course, being a Quality Assurance team, work wasn't completely left behind. We briefly talked about the problems we encountered throughout the year, bugs that tested our patience, systems that challenged our logic, and moments that pushed us beyond our comfort zones.

But this time, those stories came with laughter instead of stress.

We laughed at what once frustrated us. We shared how we overcame issues that once felt overwhelming. And in doing so, we realized something important: growth doesn't always feel like progress while it's happening, but looking back together makes it clear how far we've come.

More Than Just a Christmas Party

This gathering was more than a celebration. It was a reminder.

A reminder that behind every test case is a human effort.

Behind every resolved issue is collaboration.

And behind every successful project is a team that chooses to show up not just for the work, but for each other.

In a world where productivity is often measured by output, this Christmas party reminded us that connection is just as important. That taking time to laugh, to listen, and to simply exist together strengthens the foundation of everything we build as a company.

As we move forward into a new year, we carry these moments with us: the shared laughter, the honest conversations, the silly meows, the lechon chaos, the rope ideas, the soup story, the traffic adventures, and the quiet realization that we are not walking this path alone.

NorthQA may be a small team, but the bond we share makes our work meaningful and our journey worthwhile.
